My favorite always-on lenses for beginners and professionals

My 4 favorite always-on lenses on the DSLR

If I had to decide which lens I would take to a remote island, I would use one of my always-on lenses. It doesn't matter if you have only little space in your luggage, if you don't want to carry a lot of weight or if you just don't like to change the lens: With the lenses on this list, you'll still be flexible for most of your motives.

Copy and back up photos and videos from SD card as a backpacker without a notebook

There are 4 weeks of backpacker holidays on Bali ahead of us. To save weight we travel without Macbook and Co., but with drone and camera equipment.

But what is the most reliable way to back up the files from the SD cards on the way?

Sell pictures and photos online – which platforms are worth it?

For years I have been photographing with heart and soul, but at best I show the photos in our travel blogs. Why not search through my own photo archive and offer pictures for sale on various online portals? The registration is free of charge and with a little luck we generate some income. Definitely better than to let the pictures "rot" isolated on the network storage.

My equipment and basic settings for wedding photography in churches

Of course, there is no magic formula for setting the camera, no matter what kind of photos you want to take. Neither is there any ultimate equipment for such jobs. This is also the case with the photography of weddings in churches. Motives and light conditions vary from shooting to shooting. Nevertheless, I usually move with my equipment in a certain setting range, or try to approach the location, motives and light from a certain value. Here I talk about equipment, camera settings and editing.

CanoScan 9000F Mark II no longer available – what are the alternatives to scanning photos, slides and negatives?

In 2017 I presented the workflow for scanning photos, slides and negatives with the then top dog Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II in a video. With the same scanner I digitized about 3000 old pictures and negatives. Meanwhile, the popular scanner is no longer available and some people wonder what alternatives there are now. In this article I followed this question and found an equal successor.

A low budget setup for high key and low key photography in a hobby studio

In this article I write about which lights and which arrangement of lights I use for high key or low key photography in my home studio. Besides the construction I also give an overview about the technique I use as an ambitious hobby photographer. Here I report, how I equipped my home "photo studio" for hobby purposes for about 350€.

We arrived on the north eastern coast of Greece. Time to set up our awning for a quick swim in the salines and then washing the salt away in the ocean. #greece #pydna #quickpitch #offroad #offroadtravel #defender110 #pieria #hellas

Potting some new plants. Now let there be summer.

On the banks of the Soca, we stayed for two nights, where we met @reisehoheit . We hiked through the wonderful Soca Valley with its hanging bridges, green natural forests, blue shimmering waterfalls and ended the day with talks at the restaurant campfire, where I ate the best pork rib of all time. #kobarid #kobaridvalley #soca #socavalley #slovenia #sloveniatravel #kamplazar #pixelfriedhof #isonzo #isonzoriver #feelslovenia
We stayed a night at the camper stop at Robivera. Electricity and water were provided for overnight campers. We took a stroll through the wineyard, had a great dinner with homemade ingredients and wine while looking over the wineyards, onto the sea. Robert and his daughter were very friendly and we even got to see the cellar. This is one of the best experiences we had in Slovenia! #krkavče #krkavce #slovenia #sloveniatravel #sloveniatravel #pixelfriedhof #loveslovenia #robivera #smarje #sloveniawines #sloveniawinery
